Summit Physio + Wellness

Hi, I’m James Emery!

With over 8 years of experience, I am a dedicated and intuitive massage therapist committed to helping clients relieve pain, reduce stress, and restore balance in their bodies. Specializing in relaxation/therapeutics, deep tissue, and sports/injury therapy, I customize each session to meet the unique needs of each client — whether they’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic tension, or simply seeking relaxation.

After graduating from Makami College and earning my diploma in Calgary, AB, I pursued continuing education in specialties like Reiki, prenatal, but look to continue with my interest in kinesiology or chiropractics, reflecting my deep passion for lifelong learning and holistic wellness.

Known for a calming presence and strong, intuitive hands, I believe in the body’s natural ability to heal — and that therapeutic massage can be a powerful tool in that process. Clients describe sessions as both deeply restorative and highly effective.

Outside the treatment room, I enjoy living with my family in Sylvan Lake. Kayaking and enjoying the experiences and people I meet along the way.

Hi, I’m Laura Jones!

I am a physiotherapist. I was born and raised on a farm in northern Saskatchewan. After high school, I obtained my Bachelor of Physical Education and Master of Science in Physical Therapy. I have worked in private practice since graduating. Continuing my education, I have taken several post-graduate courses, including trigger point dry needling, Level 2 Orthopedic Manual Therapy, peripheral joint manipulation, and Part A Mackenzie certification. I am also a certified pelvic health therapist, and this has become my passion. My patients have benefited from my extensive training in a wide variety of pelvic floor dysfunctions. Women’s health is very empowering, and I strive to create an environment for my clients to feel heard and validated as they navigate their road to recovery.

As a therapist, I believe in a personalized and hands-on approach to therapy. My emphasis on education, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and proper technique helps clients reach recovery through increased body awareness and knowledge of their injury. I believe that each client is unique; therefore, rehabilitation programs are designed to fit the individual’s lifestyle and personal goals.

When I am not working, you will find me spending time with my two young boys, Tanner and Sutter. I grew up playing competitive hockey and high school volleyball. I still enjoy staying active by biking, running, and keeping up with my kiddos. I enjoy being outdoors and camping in the summer.

Hi, I’m Travis Jones!

I am a physiotherapist. The complexity of the human body has always interested me and this interest helped me find a career in physiotherapy.

I obtained my Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta after earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. I have pursued my post-graduate education in Advanced Orthopedic Manual Therapy and I am trained in Vestibular Rehabilitation, Spinal and Peripheral Joint Manipulation and Trigger Point Dry Needling. Also, I have completed training in running assessment and injury prevention. I am passionate about helping athletes remain injury free in their sport.

I can help with a variety of conditions including acute and chronic orthopedic injuries and I have a particular interest in helping people with dizziness/vertigo. My approach to treatment includes hands-on manual therapy, exercise prescription and education to maximize your rehabilitation. I make sure that I consider your lifestyle, needs and goals when creating a treatment plan. I enjoy the opportunity to be involved in people’s lives and assisting them in healing and returning to full function.

Growing up farming in a small southern Alberta town, I played competitive hockey and football. I value staying active and healthy. I have competed in half-Ironman and Olympic distance triathlons. I am an avid runner and kiteboarder, and I love any outdoor activity.

Shelly Prosko, PT, C-IAYT, PCAYT

Hi I’m Shelly Prosko!

I am a physiotherapist, yoga therapist, educator, author and pioneer of PhysioYoga. In 1990, I was introduced to yoga and it quickly became a passion as it fit well with my background as a professional figure skater, dancer and overall lover of mindful movement. Yoga also resonated with my personality of being deeply reflective, curious, playful and explorative with a desire to be more self-aware and connect more meaningfully with others (and myself)!

I started integrating yoga practices and principles into my physiotherapy practice immediately upon receiving my physiotherapy degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1998. Over the past few decades, I have continued to advance my knowledge and skills with many in-depth trainings, ongoing clinical experience, contributing to academic research and being on faculty and guest lecturing in physical therapy and yoga therapy programs across North America.

Over the years, I have valued and enjoyed working with many different populations in a wide variety of clinical settings in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and in the United States including sports medicine, orthopedics, pelvic health, chronic pain, geriatrics and long term care.

In 2012, my role as a continuing education provider for healthcare professionals and academic writer grew. I took on several roles as faculty and guest lecturer at numerous yoga therapy and physical therapy schools across North America, while maintaining a small clinical practice here in Sylvan Lake.

I am co-editor/author of the book Yoga and Science in Pain Care: Treating the Person in Pain and have authored several book chapters in yoga therapy and integrative rehabilitation textbooks.

Currently, I continue to enjoy presenting at medical conferences, contributing to academic research and teaching physiotherapists about various ways to enhance their skills in the area of whole-person care in pelvic health and chronic pain care. However, one of my greatest passions professionally is in providing services and resources for the general population, including group classes and individual sessions, particularly in the areas of pelvic health, chronic pain and healthy aging. I’m very excited to now be a part of the wonderful team at Sylvan Lake Physical Therapy & Sports Injury Clinic and be of service to this community where I reside and that I love!

I consider myself a lifelong student and want to emphasize the immense value gained from clinical experience and learning from the patients I serve, the professionals I teach, and the colleagues with which I collaborate.

I love music, dance and spending quality time with family and friends. I believe that meaningful connections, spending time in nature and sharing joy can be powerful contributors to healing and well-being. Learn more about my work and the resources I offer at: www.physioyoga.ca
